Feminity and two-wheels

This photo series highlights and celebrates women who choose (and love!) to ride. Motorized two-wheelers and mechanics have traditionally been male-dominated. The images we see of women with scooters or motorcycles sometimes lack authenticity, as they are overly sexualized or created solely for advertising purposes. Or women are only depicted as passengers riding on the back. On the contrary, I want to show that women can be true riders and that they fully belong in the world of motorcycles and scooters.
Moreover, I don’t believe that women entering a male-dominated space should necessarily become masculine. On the contrary, I think they can enrich it with their femininity. By photographing various female riders I meet by chance, I explore how each one of them integrates in their own ways into this predominantly masculine universe. This also sheds light on the diversity of feminine expression—from those who adopt a very masculine style to those who choose to maintain a distinctly feminine appearance.
